Following Topic 1, Topic 2 describes the conditions for changing to NPO status of residence.

※If you complete Technical Intern Training No. 2 and want to change to a specific skill in the same occupation, you will be exempt from the specific skill test and Japanese language test.
Example: I returned from Japan after completing Technical Intern Training No. 2 in the food and beverage manufacturing industry. I would like to re-enter Japan and work on Specific Skill Qualification for food and beverage manufacturing.
→ In this case, the Specific Proficiency Test and Japanese language test will be exempted. You don’t have to appear for the tests.
※ If you complete Technical Intern Training No. 2, you will be exempted from the Japanese Language Examination if you change your specific skill to a different occupation.
Example: I returned from Japan after completing Technical Intern Training No. 2 in the construction industry. I would like to re-enter Japan again and work as a specific skill qualification for restaurants.
→ In this case, the Japanese language exam (JLPT or JFT exam) will be exempted. However, it is necessary to pass the Specific Skill Test.

You will need to fulfill the following two conditions.

Completed Technical Intern Training No. 2 or Technical Intern Training No. 3
〔 Condition 2 〕
Pass the Specified Skill Test
However, if you change to a specific skill in the same occupation as the technical intern training, you will be exempted from the specific skill test.
Example: If you have completed the long-term care skill training No. 2 and want to continue working in a long-term care occupation with a specific skill.
→ You will be exempted from the long-term care specific skill test / Japanese language test (JLPT or JFT test).
In addition, after completing Technical Intern Training No. 2, you will be exempted from the Japanese Language Exam even if you change to a job with the same specific skill as the technical intern training, or if you change to a job with a specific skill different from the technical intern training.
※Due to the rise of Corona, it may be difficult to return to your country even after completing Technical Intern Training No. 2 or 3, and there are increasing cases of changing to a status of residence of “specific activities”.
Even when changing from one specific activity qualification to a different specific skill, it is necessary to fulfill the above 2 conditions.
